Almost Heaven, a diamond in the rough. The staff is excellent, the owner/artisan Chef is one of the best in the State, the menu is diverse and creative, the food is awesome. I can't say enough good things about the owners. They were a blessing to us when we got snowed in. The rooms are quiet and room 1 has two separate sleeping areas as well as a kitchen. It opens into the back porch with beautiful views and a fire pit area with seating and a picnic table. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is your stop. Be sure to make reservations for dinner, the food is fantastic! We'll be back for sure!
Just had dinner at the lodge in Alpena. Hands down one of the best meals in the area. Everything there is crafted with attention to detail, and so delicious. Our waitress Debby was phenomenal; she made the entire experience unforgettable. When we get the chance, we will again dine at the Lodge.
Second time visiting and the food and service were both fantastic. I had the crab stuffed trout, delicious! The italian sausage stuffed wax pepper appetizer was great. The marinara was amazing. I am not sure if it was a temporary internet issue or if they just don't ever accept cards, so make sure you have cash or a checkbook.
Dinner was delicious. The extensive fresh seafood offerings not on the menu were impressive. Could have ordered fresh Tuna, Mahi, Lobster Tail, crab meat, crab cakes. Had the best smoke trout dip ever. Great rustic atmosphere in the middle of the mountains. Great food. Only take cash or check.
Good food and service. The steaks are tender and juicy. Loved the homemade dressing for the salads. Worth the drive! Wish we could have chosen our own sides. Garlic bread with the spaghetti would be a nice addition to the menu.
This place is a true hidden gem. My family and I LOVE coming here to eat every time we're in town! The food is fresh and always hits the spot. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is very friendly and welcoming, too! We always look forward to eating here before we make our way to camp. Looking forward to eating here again very soon!
We are new to West Virginia, and the locals have been telling us to try the Alpena for the last few months. We are so glad we did! Let me first off by saying our server was absolutely excellent My husband had the gumbo special. It was some of the best gumbo we’ve ever had, including our time in New Orleans. The new shrimp barbecue polenta appetizer is amazing. We could’ve lick the sauce off of the plate. Finally, I had the surf and turf with a crabcake, an 8 ounce fillet and two jumbo shrimp. Cooked to perfection. We will be back!
